For those who defended the region

ivmemorialhall

The Inman Valley Memorial Hall is home to the honour rolls from past conflicts, these boards and plaques have the names of many men and women that fought dating back to WW1. Images of some of these are available for view through the online collections of Monument Australia www.monumentaustralia.org.au.

The hall that now houses the plaques was built in the early 50’s through a community organised group that both raised the funds and built the hall. Once the decision was made to call this new community land the Inman Valley Memorial Hall, the community group involved decided that the existing plaques hanging in the local church move into the hall, with others being added to acknowledge those involved in more recent conflicts.

Inman Valley community and residence worked together in 1920 to present all those enlisted from Inman Valley with a medal as a token of remembrance from they community. These medals were purchased through funds raised through the Christmas Sports Day, and further personal donations. These were presented to the men at a celebration held in their honour.

The service records are based on the records of the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.

The hall continues to be used by the community and renters to host regular meetings, events and celebrations.
